Goshen accepts $80,000 to drop opposition to utility pole construction.

Aug. 15--GOSHEN -- The town of Goshen has accepted an $80,000 payment to drop its opposition to the construction of new utility poles through the center of town coming from the Lempster windmill project.

The payment will be paid by Iberdrola Renewable Energies USA that will build the windfarm with 12 wind turbines atop Lempster Mountain generating 24 megawatts of electricity.

"The town is not opposing the project and never has opposed the project," board of selectmen chair Jim Carrick said Tuesday night during a special meeting.
