Aug. 17--The Lamorinda Golden Bears water polo club won the boys 18-under championship in the National Junior Olympics on July 31 in San Jose.
Lamorinda defeated SoCal 5-4 in the title match.
Monte Vista High School graduate Charlie Steffens and De La Salle grad Andrew Milcovich were named co-MVP's of the tournament.
Lamorinda went undefeated in seven matches over a four-day stretch to win the title.
In a release by the Lamorinda Golden Bears, coach Boyd Lachance said great team play and fabulous goalkeeping from De La Salle's Kevin Peat were keys to upsetting the favored SoCal team.
