MIAMI, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Barbara Gutierrez, managing editor of El Nuevo Herald, has been promoted to the position of executive editor. Tony Espetia, assistant managing editor, has been promoted to managing editor, El Nuevo Herald Publisher Roberto Suarez announced today.

Gutierrez, 41, began her newspaper career in 1980 when she joined The Miami Herald as a police reporter, also covering features and general assignments. In 1985 she moved to television, working as assignment editor for WLTV/Channel 23 (Univision), and WPLG/Channel 10 (ABC). Four years later, she returned to The Herald to edit the local section of El Nuevo Herald.
