Aug. 18--Ranette McGhee left the Bag 'N Save near 90th and Maple Streets Wednesday night with five plastic bags, none of them containing milk.
Her children -- ages 13, 15 and 17 -- normally go through three or four gallons a week.
She decided to go without, she said, when she noticed prices nearing $4 a gallon.
"I'm a single mom. I can't afford it," she said. "I don't understand. Why is it so high?"
High, of course, is a relative term.
Though milk prices are higher than usual across America, in Omaha they're still lower than the national average. And, if history is any guide, market forces ...
