Aug. 19--The NL Central provides an emotionally safe, supportive and nurturing environment for its teams. I could be wrong, but that doesn't seem like a good thing when the rest of baseball is spitting tobacco and adjusting protective cups.
The Central is a place where everybody's a winner, where the team mom brings healthy snacks for the after-game treat, where gym class stresses team-building skills and frowns on the brutality of dodgeball.
Apropos of nothing, it's a place where Carlos Zambrano can sign a five-year, $91.5 million contract and say, as he did Friday, "I'd like to thank God. Without him, I'm nothing, I'm ...
