Statistics compiled from media reports collected during the September 1994 to March 1995 home heating season reveal that carbon monoxide detectors saved 206 people across the country from CO related illness or death. In homes without detectors present, 642 people became ill and 78 people died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the medical director of Chicago's Rush Poison Control Center, carbon monoxide detectors are as important to keeping people healthy as they are to saving lives.
