Aug. 20--IRBID -- The Labour Ministry on Sunday said a strike carried out last week by a group of Indians working in a Qualified Industrial Zone (QIZ) factory was illegal.
More than 300 Indian workers at the Jordache Factory in Al Hassan Industrial Estate initiated the strike on August 7, a day after one of their colleagues, Hari Lal, 31, died of what they claimed was substandard working conditions.
The strike ended on August 14 after they were told by the ministry that it was illegal and not in accordance with the Labour Law, as they should have informed the factory of their intention to carry out the strike 15 days ...
