Current Issue

Wheat flour industry is an intermediate industry processing wheat grain into flour to be used as feedstock for various food processing industries including wet noodle, instant noodle, bread and biscuit industries. Wheat grain is imported as wheat does not grow well in the country. The industry was originally designed to produce import substitute.

Until 1998, wheat flour trade was regulated and was monopolized by the Board of Logistics (Bulog). Wheat flour was produced only by companies named by the government agency. Imports of wheat flour were banned.
