The topic of sleep deprivation is one that we hear and read about in the news constantly. We see the bleary-eyed patients on television and their sleep specialists saying, "Joe here has horrible sleep apnea. We discovered this with a sleep study at our lab where we watched him all night long, learning that he stopped breathing literally hundreds of times a night...."
However, what we do not see is the dedicated sleep technicians who stayed up all night long watching Joe sleep and monitoring his test results to assure accuracy. There is almost never a discussion about how sleep deprived they could be.
