SK Telecom to convert China Unicom bonds into shares
Shanghai. August 21. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Unicom (HK), the Hong Kong- listed arm of China's second largest mobile operator, announced today that South Korea's SK Telecom Co. Ltd. will convert the $1 billion worth of convertible bonds it purchased from China Unicom into shares of China Unicom.
SK Telecom informed China Unicom yesterday that it wished to convert the bonds into shares at HKD 8.63 ($1.10) per share, China Unicom said.
China Unicom will issue 899.8 million conversion shares to SK Telecom, making SK Telecom its shareholder, owning a 6.61 percent equity stake.
