South Williamsport, Pa. -- In this tiny town adorned with relics of Little League mania, the Coon Rapids National League All Stars escaped it all Friday afternoon and found an improbable hour of respite, heading to the batting cages for practice.
The air was cool and the mood was light 24 hours before the team's first game against Lubbock, but in the background, there was the lingering thought of Garrett Williams, the Texas pitcher who hurls 70 mile-per-hour fast balls with moderate regularity and who had given up just two runs all season.
