Aug. 22--SAN BERNARDINO -- To comply with the secretary of state's recent decision to decertify San Bernardino County's touch-screen voting machines, the registrar of voters will revert to paper ballots.

Nearly 3,500 electronic voting machines will go unused in the upcoming November and February elections, being replaced by paper.

"I have no choice but to recommend that we go back to paper ballots at the polls," said Registrar Kari Verjil.

On Aug. 3, Secretary of State Debra Bowen decertified Sequoia voting machines after a top-to-bottom review that showed they are susceptible to hacking.
