Try to stir a jar of natural peanut butter, and you will make a mess. The nut oil that rises to the top will slop over the edge of the jar.
But what's the alternative? At room temperature, the oil separates, forming a thick pool at the top of the jar. Not stirring it in (and dumping it out) leaves you with dry, unappealing peanut butter.
Robert Witmer, the 51-year-old director of the Orrville, Ohio, YMCA, shared your frustration. So a few years ago, he decided to do something about it. Thus was born Grandpa Witmer's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Mixer.
