The Twins have been so bad with runners in scoring position recently that Michael Cuddyer could have been forgiven Wednesday for trying to change all of that with one swing.
Justin Morneau had tried that Tuesday and failed. Others were guilty, up and down the lineup.
But when Seattle Mariners pitcher Miguel Batista loaded the bases in the first inning, Cuddyer focused on bringing one run home, not four.
"I was just looking for a pitch to be able to hit a sacrifice fly," he said.
