Aug. 23--If you didn't read "The Nanny Diaries" back in 2002 because you thought you'd wait for the movie, I've got three words for you: Amazon. Dot. Com.
As a literary character, the nanny is archetypal; her story familiar. We all know from "Jane Eyre" and "Mary Poppins" -- and heck, even Fran Drescher's "The Nanny" -- that when an upper-crust family hires a nanny, it's because they are too emotionally stunted, or too work- or self-obsessed to raise the children themselves.
