Aug. 23--When Bay County sheriff's deputies uncover illegal aliens at local work sites, they apparently aren't doing anything construction companies couldn't have done already.
Deputies spot the illegals by checking their Social Security numbers, and employment experts say businesses easily can use the same method.
Verifying the numbers of employees takes just minutes on a government Web site available to the public. And for employers too busy to do it themselves, information brokers offer the service for as little as $1.50 per person.
