Carbon black producer Columbian Chemicals Co. has launched projects that will add a power facility in Italy and expand the firm's capacity in China.
The firm also is raising prices for industrial-grade carbon black in North America.
Columbian, which is in the midst of restructuring its North American operations, will install a boiler, turbine generator, cooling towers and transformers in an addition at its Trecate carbon black factory in San Martino di Trecate, Italy. The power plant will produce up to 15 megawatts of electricity.
