Aug. 24--With two races to go, Yuba City's Mark Hill suddenly finds himself atop the points standings in the wingless sprints car division at Marysville Raceway Park.
Entering last Saturday's race, Hill trailed Patrick Russum of Sacramento by 16 points. But after the main event on the quarter-mile dirt oval, Hill slipped past Russum by one point in the championship race, 685-684.
Hill made up the points gap when Russum went to the pits with front-end damage to his sprint car following a collision in the early stages of the main event. Russum ended up last in the 19-car field, while Hill motored to a fifth-place finish.
