Aug. 25--KINGS MOUNTAIN -- It was the scenario the Kings Mountain faithful had eagerly awaited ... a happy team gathered around their coach at midfield celebrating an opening victory.
Though Kings Mountain's 42-25 win against Hunter Huss at John Gamble Stadium Friday night probably didn't register on the football Richter scale outside the city limits, it was a major step forward for a program under a new regime.
"This did a lot for us," said new Mountaineer head coach Greg Lloyd. "It gives us something to build on. We did a lot of good things and now we look forward to a good challenge next week."
