Aug. 25--The six woven silver belts Bruce McMaster brought home from a trip to Cambodia were together worth about $1,200, and when he brought them into William L. Conley's East Hampton Village consignment shop, McMaster said he expected to get his full money's worth.
But a year later, McMaster and his wife returned to find Conley's store vacant. Unbeknownst to McMaster and dozens of others, Conley had taken off with their paintings, antique furniture and jewelry, and didn't let them know how to get in touch or where he was going with their possessions.
