Aug. 25--Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel could rejoin the team soon.
Samuel, absent all of training camp because of a contract dispute, is willing to put his grievance aside and report sometime next week. No specific date was announced.
Seeking a long-term contract this offseason, Samuel was unhappy the Patriots put the franchise tag on him, which restricted his free agency and slotted him into a $7.79 million salary in 2007. He is expected to sign the tender, The Boston Herald and NFL Network reported.
