Aug. 26--In their first two exhibition games, the Patriots allowed a total of 300 yards rushing. Certainly, the porous run defense can be attributed to who's on the field and who's not.
Coach Bill Belichick views it more as the result of poor execution, which is what he sees when he watches the film. Either way, he doesn't anticipate his team allowing an average of 150 yards on the ground during the regular season.
The Patriots' ability to shut down the run was a main factor in Friday night's 24-7 victory over Carolina and a vast improvement from the two previous games.
