Aug. 26--Soothing hot basalt stones are gently placed on the upper back.
The stones help loosen up sore muscles and provide relaxation.
But whether it's shiatsu, shantala or hot rocks, massage therapy is a popular way to relieve stress and reduce pain.
In Westford, the Board of Health is considering ways to revamp massage-therapy regulations.
Under the current zoning bylaw, chair massages and stand-alone massage-therapy businesses aren't allowed.
"It sounds a bit antiquated in today's age -- even the Red Sox get massage therapy after a game," said Board of Health Chairman Zac Cataldo.
