Calling the race between Ziff Davis' PC Magazine and IDG's PC World "hot" this year would not necessarily be appropriate in an ice-cold computing Boxscore (down 22.24% in ad pages, year-to-date). But it is interesting. At Mag, we see the effects of heavy editor turnover following last year's departure of PC guru Michael Miller (currently, Lance Ulanoff helms the flagship ZD book), and of the uncertainty of selling at a company that is being sold. Hence, Mag is down over 32% in ad pages year-to-date, while the less-troubled World is only down 13.25%.
