Aug. 28--Developers of the planned KeyLime Cove Water Resort on Monday offered a slice of key lime pie and tropical fruit punch along with a hard-hat construction tour of the $135.7 million facility scheduled to open in February on 30 acres near the Tri-State Tollway in Gurnee.
Bill Morrissey of Morrissey Hospitality Companies, which will manage the day-to-day operations of the complex, said the resort is riding a new wave of tourist attractions aimed at modern vacation needs.
"The two week, pack up the family and get in the car vacation is probably over," he said, as people opt for shorter, more frequent trips.
