Mechel debuts on ferroalloy market, buys Bratsk Ferroalloy Plant (Part 2)
MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - The Mechel (RTS: MTLR) coal and steel group has started to implement its strategy to enter the ferroalloys market by acquiring the Bratsk Ferroalloy Plant.
Mechel said in a press release that it bought 100% of the plant, which had been owned by the ICT group prior to the transaction.
Mechel did not say how much it paid for the plant.
Mechel has said it intended to acquire ferroalloy producers in Russia in order to keep its existing special alloy producers stocked with raw material.
