Aug. 29--Vervene "Vee" Carlisle stood out in a crowd, and not just because she was tall and blond.
Carlisle, whom friend Bev White described as "6-foot-something and always wore high heels," stood out because of her political and business achievements, and her community involvement.
Carlisle died on Sunday at age 90, but leaves behind a legacy of championing women's rights.
She was born in Salt Lake City on April 23, 1917, and graduated from Granite High School before joining the Foreign Service of the U.S. State Department in 1964, through which she traveled across the world.
