Polyscope Polymers BV (Geleen, The Netherlands) has rolled out Xiran SMA (styrene maleic anhydride). An impact-modified copolymer with high-temperature stability, dimensional precision, and good adhesion, Xiran offers auto-parts manufacturers an alternative to polyamide, PP-LGF, PP-EPDM, or ABS blends. The copolymer also provides a better balance of heat resistance and impact strength than traditional SMAs, Polyscope says.

All Xiran grades can be molded on conventional sprue and runner designs, and are said to demonstrate excellent shot-to-shot reproducibility. Additionally, they are recyclable.
