Aug. 30--Thank God for the press box at Memorial Stadium. A cold front had blown through Austin and the temperature had dipped near the freezing mark when Cuero and Van Vleck took the field for their 1985 Class 3A semifinal game.
The Cuero and Van Vleck fans huddled in the stands had no idea what was about to transpire but those who were there most likely haven't forgotten.
Advocate-area teams are sure to create dramatic moments this season and as the excitement over the opening of high school football season builds, it seems appropriate to take a look back at three of the area's most memorable games of the past 25 years.
