Afghan President Hamid Karzai insist the Taliban posed no threat to his government but admitted the Islamic fundamentalist group remained a menace. Karzai made the comments after a summit with US President George W. Bush at Camp David, amid mounting concern about the resurgence in the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. "The Taliban is a danger to the people. But they are not posing any threat to the government or institutions of Afghanistan", he said. The summit came three days before Karzai was to hold talks with Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf in Kabul, aimed at increasing co-operation in the tribal region between the two countries.
