Home textile retailers are grinding away at promotional programs so fast and unrelentingly, it's leading to a less robust response from consumers. It's not that these varied sales are no longer effectively presented, but my view is a pause should be expected in units purchased for home use. Month after month, shoppers are exposed to remarkable values that tempt them to buy items they don't need.
In the 1990s alone, in the four-year period from 1990 to 1994, this nation's manufacturers shipped some 12 billion sheets and pillowcases to their account base. Plus about 300 million bath towels. And more than 150 million comforters and nearly 200 million bed blankets and ...
