It certainly is a unique -- in fact, odd -- way to sell tickets for an inaugural flight but beyond a doubt the concept is taking off with phenomenal success.
Singapore Airlines opened its Singapore Airlines A380 First Flight Charity Auction, starting Aug. 27 for its inaugural flight from Singapore to Sydney, Australia, taking off on Thursday, Oct. 25, with the return leg on Friday, Oct. 26. I think you can bid for either flight.
A majority of seats for both legs of the First Flight are being auctioned on eBay, the global online marketplace, progressively over the next two weeks.
