NEW YORK _ John Feal gives a kidney to a stranger.
Her spouse gives a kidney to another patient.
Then that patient's better half gives a kidney to Feal's pal, Paul Grossfield.
And that is how a rare triple kidney swap was supposed to go down Thursday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia.
"The doctors told me everything went very well and there were no complications," Feal's wife, Marzena, said after the six-hour operation. "He's in some pain and he's a bit cranky, but he's also cracking jokes."
