Khayroollo Sattarov went down a long row of ripening tomatoes in a back field at the Gove Farm in Leominster, staking the plants quickly and efficiently with nylon rope.
It's a skill he'll likely need when he returns in November to his native Uzbekistan, where he hopes to someday grow hothouse tomatoes.
"It's subtropical. The weather is good, kind of like here, but drier," he said.
Mr. Sattarov, 23, is busy helping the Gove family with the summer's harvest; he is joined by three young men from other corners of the globe who also have college agricultural internships at the farm.
