This 36-year-old Italian painter showed large, abstract paintings and several smaller ones. It was his first exhibition in the U.S., although he has been showing in Italy since 1989. The most striking element of the work, besides the combination of oil and acrylic paint on the same canvas, is Peroli's imagery.
The paintings (all 1994) feature a dominant central form resting in a monochromatic field. The size, shape and location of the forms, as well as the texture of the surrounding fields, exhibit restless variation.
