WORCESTER - As the clock runs out on the Worcester Tornadoes' third season, the club rallied around the modest goal of finishing .500.

That dream ended in brutal fashion last night as the home club committed three errors and allowed three runs in the eighth inning and Worcester fell to the Sussex Skyhawks, 7-6, before 1,886 stunned fans at Hanover Insurance Park.

The Tornadoes scored five first-inning runs off former teammate Jaime Merchant, but couldn't hold the advantage.

It was the third time in the last 10 games that the Tornadoes have had a lead of at least five runs and lost.
