The coming defeat of Bob Rae's government will have long-term implications for the Canadian Left. The fate of Toronto Star journalist Tom Walkom's book Rae Day: the rise and follies of the NDP in the pages of the Globe and Mail demonstrates how difficult it is going to be to challenge the idea that the Left has no meaningful alternatives to offer.
