Sep. 1--CARROLL, Iowa -- Carroll Kuemper didn't pick up a single first down in the second half. Yet there they were at game's end, celebrating like wild men after one of the wackiest games in recent memory.
In a game featuring two halves which couldn't have been more different, Carroll High rallied from a 24-3 halftime deficit to force overtime. But Kuemper quarterback Stephen Badding hit Ben Klocke for an 8-yard touchdown pass on a third-and-goal play in the extra session, and the Knight defense held for a 32-24 victory before an overflow crowd at the Carroll Athletic Field.
