Sep. 1--ATLANTA -- Orlando Hernandez returned to New York after Thursday's game to receive another cortisone shot, this time in his sore right foot. That might explain the beating El Duque took from the Phillies in his quickest departure this year.

Hernandez allowed five earned runs, including three homers, and left the game with the Mets in a 5-0 hole. The brief stay was his shortest since July 16 of last year, when the Cubs knocked him out after 1 2/3 innings.
