For more than a decade we've studied twin-row performance in the Farm Journal Tests Plots, but never like this. Reader interest sparked the new silage effort. "When we present twin-row data, there are always questions about how the results pertain to silage, so we decided to find out," says Farm Journal Field Agronomist Ken Ferrie. To study how twins perform in silage, we teamed up with Illinois State University (ISU). The plots were planted in two fields totaling 70 acres at the college's research and teaching farm near Lexington, Ill.
