Sep. 2--STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Joe Paterno thought he would make it all the way, but running into the stadium with the team to begin a 42d year as Penn State head coach was far from a sure thing yesterday.
He still gimps a bit on the left leg that was broken in a sideline collision last year and, well, the man is 80 years old. How many 50-yard sprints do you plan to do when you reach that age?
"I've been running a little bit in the last couple weeks, and I felt pretty good about the ability, but I do get tired," Paterno said.
