BAGUIO CITY - Renewable energy will provide over 50 percent of the country's energy needs by the year 2015, with the expected approval of the Renewable Energy Act this year, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri said here yesterday.
The measure was approved by the House of Representatives in the 13th Congress but failed to make it in the Senate. It should win Senate approval within a year, he said.
"We want the Philippines to spearhead the shift from destructive energy sources to renewable energy that will prolong the lifespan of Mother Earth," he stressed. There are many potential sources of renewable energy in the country which will be tapped with the ...
