SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1995--Overnight visitors to San Jose, Calif., contributed about $485 million to the local economy in 1994, nearly $55 million more than they did in 1992, according to a visitor economic impact study conducted for the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau.

About 1,626,000 visitors spent at least one night in San Jose last year, up 8.4 percent from 1992. They boosted the local economy by spending money on lodging, meals and beverages, shopping, transportation, and recreation and entertainment.

The total overnight visitor spending included about $32.4 million in local and state tax revenue, up 14 percent from 1992. ...
