A whoPping 89% of brokers believe automated underwriting is the future, a report from Alliance & Leicester reveals.
But the lender warns that technology is no substitute for bespoke services offered by underwriters.
Jeremy Claridge, head of specialist mortgages at A&L, says: "The role of human underwriters should not be underestimated as they add considerable value in non-standard cases and provide important education, information and support for lenders and brokers.
"Many brokers believe access to underwriters is critical to the success of their relationships with lenders."
