Sep. 1--PEMBROKE -- Finally.
It's here.
UNC-Pembroke football.
The Braves are back.
Sometime just before 7 p.m. today, 63 players in black and gold uniforms will gather near the end zone at Davidson, wrap their arms around each other, and start the Braves' chant -- the same one used over and over at Florida State sporting events and Atlanta Braves games.
Years from now, when some yet-to-be born historians scour the UNC-Pembroke record book on their space-age iPhone, they'll look back to today as the starting point of the modern era of Braves football.
