FIVE Black Country men have been put behind bars for a total of 11 years for their part in an operation to flood the area with over pounds 5.5 million pounds worth of smuggled cigarettes.
"This conspiracy represents, in every sense, serious organised crime," Judge Michael Challinor told the smugglers at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
He said the pounds 833,913 the gang evaded in excise duty with the contraband loads demonstrated it was an operation capable of turning over a great deal of money.
