Sep. 6--Ohio's apple crop this fall will be significantly smaller than in past years, but apple lovers can expect prices to stay reasonable and consumers are expected to have no trouble finding that special variety.
"There should be apples, but it may be a little more challenging to get them," said Bill Dodd, president of the Ohio Fruit Growers Marketing Association, in Newcomerstown.
A killing frost around Easter damaged much of Ohio's crop for this season. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's statistical service estimates the crop at 55 million pounds, down 46 percent from last year's 102 million pounds.
