BANGKOK, Thailand, Sep. 3, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- No clear evidence exists to link wild birds to the cases of avian influenza that have infected poultry populations throughout the world. Indeed, some studies have shown that wild birds are more likely to catch the flu from poultry farms than the other way around.

Nevertheless, the public remains suspicious of wild birds in part because negative test results -- in this case, tests that show that wild birds are healthy, rather than ill -- are less likely to be published than positive test results.
