Sep. 7--Our points system is based on a team's 2006 performance and its potential production in 2007. Teams are rated on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest) on offense, defense, special teams and coaching to arrive at an overall point total. The maximum a team can achieve is 20 points.
NFC SOUTH
1. New Orleans Saints (17.0)
Offense: Top-ranked unit should be explosive again with 4,000-yard QB Drew Brees, 1,000-yard RB Deuce McAllister, 1,000-yard WR Marques Colston and all-purpose threat Reggie Bush. Rookie WR Robert Meachem and TE Eric Johnson are newest weapons. Solid O-line returns intact. Rating: 5.0.
