Sep. 8--As manager Genevieve Collonge walks through the homey Wooden Horse toy store in Los Gatos, it's become a common sight: Customer picks up item. Customer sees "made in China." Customer puts it down, muttering softly.
"Pretty much, just like that," she said. "But there is no cut-and-dried answer for this."
On many product fronts -- toothpaste, medicines, food products and toys -- consumers are becoming more wary about what they buy.
They may not all be asking for "phthalate-free" kids' products yet, but it's looming out there.
